Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this legitimate? Who is organizing the Ultrasound Research Panel?
Yes! The Ultrasound Research Panel is a collaborative partnership between Philips, a global, Netherlands-based health technology company with over 130 years of experience driving innovation, and Campos, a full-service market research and strategic consultancy based in Pittsburgh for over 35 years.
Is Ultrasound Safe?
Diagnostic ultrasound, also called sonography or diagnostic medical sonography, is a safe procedure that uses low-power sound waves to produce images of structures within your body. There are no known risks.
Isn’t ultrasound just for expectant mothers?
Ultrasound has many scanning, diagnostic, and imaging applications across the health technology sector, which is why we are looking for adults and children of all ages and genders to participate in the Ultrasound Research Panel.
What are the risks of participating in this research?
Prior to any research activity in which you are scheduled to participate, a member of Philips’ clinical staff will review any activity-specific risks and benefits to participation and will obtain your explicit, informed consent to proceed. We will also provide you with a general overview of the nature and expected duration of all research activities before we confirm your appointment to come in.
How will I be compensated if I I am invited to participate?
We will compensate you on an hourly basis, with rates starting at $75 and increasing based on the type of ultrasound scan or demonstration being performed. Compensation will be issued in the form of a Tango Digital Gift Card, which you can redeem as a pre-paid Visa or as a gift card(s) with a variety of different national retailers and restaurants. Please visit the Tango Reward Catalog for a complete list of redemption options.
When will I receive my compensation?
We will generally deliver your Tango Card to the email address that you have provided within 3 business days (excluding Federal Holidays) of being notified of your successful participation in a research activity
Are there any fees associated with the Tango Card?
No. All research activities are conducted at no cost to you, and there are no processing or activation fees associated with Tango Card’s digital redemption options.
How many times will I be invited to participate?
Scheduling needs are determined by Philips’ sonographers, so we cannot guarantee how frequently you will have a chance to participate. Some participants will be invited to participate in multiple activities during a calendar year. Campos will provide patients who have received or are expected to receive more than $599 in ompensation with the necessary documentation for tax preparation purposes.
What if I change my mind? Am I under any obligation to participate?
Your participation in the Ultrasound Research Panel and any associated research activities is completely voluntary, and you may withdraw from the panel, decline an invitation to participate, or suspend your participation in research activity at any time and for any reason. Doing so will not negatively affect your relationship with either Campos or Philips, will not impact your eligibility to participate in future research, and will have no bearing on your current or future eligibility or access to any type of medical care.
I am currently scheduled to participate in an upcoming activity but need to cancel or reschedule my appointment. What should I do?
If you need to reschedule, please reply to the confirmation email that you received or call us at (844) 228-2344.
I have multiple children. Can all of them participate in Ultrasound Research Panel?
Potentially, yes! During the course of our research, we anticipate the need to involve children of a variety of ages ranging from birth to 17. On the registration survey, please indicate the gender, birth month, and birth year of each child in your household of whom you have legal guardianship. If our records indicate that one or more of your children are of an age and gender that correspond to our current research priorities, we will reach out to you to explore your interest in bringing them in for a research visit. Please note that you will have to provide informed consent on their behalf after receiving a thorough overview of the planned activities.
I have participated in ultrasound-related research with Philips in the past. What do I need to do to continue to participate?
TBD until we learn more from Philips about this topic
