Below are answers to some of the most frequently asked participant questions.
How can my opinions help organizations?

Organizations use consumer opinions to make informed decisions in areas like marketing, product development, pricing, and customer experience. Organizations that value feedback understand that growing their business requires knowing who their customers are and what they want, which involves market research.

Click the sign-up link on this page! You’ll answer a few demographic questions, allowing us to add you to our participant database and match you to relevant studies.

We work closely with clients to ensure participants reflect the target market the client wants to reach. For one client, we might focus on new moms; for another, prospective college students. We recruit for various industries, so participants vary for each study.

Campos conducts both qualitative and quantitative research. Qualitative research includes interviews and focus groups. We typically email potential participants, inviting them to take a screening survey. This short survey helps determine if you fit the profile for the study. If you qualify, you’ll be notified, and someone from Campos will contact you for further screening. Once confirmed, we’ll send study details via email.

For quantitative research, which includes surveys, we also send email invitations. The first questions of the survey confirm if you qualify. If not, the survey will end, and we’ll explain why. If you do qualify, you can complete the full survey.

In a qualitative study, like an interview or focus group, you’ll meet with a Campos moderator and possibly other participants to discuss a specific topic. Topics range from religion to education, politics, or food. You’ll be informed about the topic in advance. The moderator will ask questions to understand your perspective, and your feedback will help the client make business decisions. Participants are assured there are no wrong answers, and feedback is confidential.

Qualitative research can be in-person or online. If in-person, we may meet at a research facility with a one-way mirror so the client can observe without being seen. If online, we use a virtual platform that mimics an in-person focus group, allowing clients to watch the discussion.

Yes! Payment varies based on the time and effort required. For a quick survey, we may offer a chance to win a gift card. For a 90-minute focus group, we offer guaranteed payment.

Campos typically pays via digital gift card using a Tango Card. This secure method allows quick payment, and you can choose from over 1,000 gift card options, including retailers like Target and Starbucks, or a Visa gift card.

Check your junk mail for payment emails, which come from noreply@tangocard.com.

You only need to pay taxes if your total income from participating exceeds $599 in a calendar year. This includes gift cards issued by Campos. If you earn more than $599 in a year, Campos will ask you to complete a W-9 form for tax purposes.

Yes! We’re always looking for referrals. Click here to refer someone and enter our monthly drawing for $100.

While Campos works with clients nationwide, we primarily recruit from our participant database for research focused on Pittsburgh-area consumers, where our headquarters are located.

We conduct both in-person and virtual research studies.

Your opinions will be kept confidential and used for research purposes only. This means your opinions will not be shared with anyone but our clients or published unless we ask for and get your permission.

No, we never sell or share participant data with outside organizations.

How often we contact you depends on our projects and if you fit the profile of the consumer our clients want to engage. While we can’t predict exactly when you’ll hear from us, we prioritize regular engagement, so expect to be contacted at least once a month.

Yes! Some projects require participants who haven’t been in recent studies, but generally, we don’t limit participation in multiple studies.

Sometimes, we have more qualified participants than available spots. In those cases, you may not hear from us because the study is full. However, this doesn’t make you less qualified. We may reach out if a spot opens up.
